Giant Sedona W — Giant's women's comfort bike, built for exactly this kind of riding. Low step-through frame, so no swinging a leg over the back.
Large Wald front basket included — that's a $40 basket on its own, and the front position means you can see your stuff while you ride
26" wheels, front suspension fork, wide padded saddle — very forgiving over rough pavement
Upright comfort geometry, swept bars, bell fitted
GripShift twist shifters — you turn the grip to change gear, easiest system to learn if you're not a confident cyclist
Fully tuned by me: brakes adjusted, gears indexed, tires holding pressure
Frame size: 43 cm (17") — best for riders 5'2"–5'7"
Honest note: it's a used bike and it shows its age — some surface rust on the basket and fork, a few paint chips. Mechanically it's sorted and rides well.
Optional add-ons: U-lock +$25 (bike shop minimum is $50)
